For decades, the United States has established itself as a formidable force in the World Kendo Championships (WKC), consistently securing third place alongside Japan and Korea. Looking back, at the 13th WKC Chinese Taipei, Team USA defeated Japan in the semifinals, earning their first-ever spot in the final. They repeated this remarkable feat at the 14th WKC Brazil, once again proving their strength on the world stage.
In recent years, Team USA has been propelled by the leadership of the two brothers, Christopher and Daniel Yang. Not only are they well-versed in Japan, but they were also key players in the team’s two historic appearances in the WKC finals. With their leadership at the helm, Team USA has rapidly ascended to the top ranks of the Kendo world. Now retired from competition, Christopher serves as the men’s team manager, while Daniel contributes as a team coach, both dedicating themselves to developing the next generation of Kenshi.
